Save the Bumble Bees! Bumblebees are disappearing rapidly and some species have been designated "endangered" by US Fish and Wildlife Service. Bees are chief pollinators of our food and wildflowers. Without bees to pollinate we have no food. So let’s do our part to help save the bees! Plant native plants;restore native habitats, and use alternatives to pesticides and chemicals. Together we can make a difference! Sold Framed Only. This broadside is based on Yoshiko Yamamoto’s design and was letterpress-printed by hand using her Vandercook model 4 printing press. Each of the seven colors was printed as a separate imprint on 100% cotton Strathmore paper producing 250 limited-edition, signed copies. Matted print with acid-free backing (12"x16") Framed with a 3/4" ebonized (black-stained) walnut hardwood, acid-free matting and backing, UV filtering acrylic, and hanging hardware. Yoshiko Yamamoto is one of the premier block printers in the Arts and Crafts style. Yamamoto's block prints are letterpress printed using hand-cut blocks on acid-free paper. Letterpress printing is a relief print process. The printed image is produced by a raised surface (originally lead movable type) being inked and then impressed onto a sheet of paper. These raised surfaces have historically been anything from woodcuts to wood engravings, from linocuts to typefaces. Over the past several years, a new type of plate made from photopolymer has contributed to the revival of letterpress printing. Yoshiko Yamamoto uses all of these methods, from woodblocks, and linoleum blocks, to photopolymer plates.
