DAVID LANCE GOINES Artist and writer David Lance Goines was born May 29, 1945, in Grants Pass, Oregon. During the 1960s, Goines enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley. He participated in the Free Speech Movement, which led to his expulsion. After re-admittance, he graduated in 1965 and apprenticed as a printmaker. In 1968, he founded Saint Hieronymus Press, producing his limited edition letterpress and photo-lithography work. Goines partnered with the owner and chef at Chez Panisse, Alice Waters, to create 30 Recipes Suitable for Framing. Each linocut print feature one of Alice Waters' recipes and Goines' artful illustrations. Goines printed several editions of 30 Recipes Suitable for Framing at his print studio in Berkeley, this edition is the sixth of the series. Every frame is crafted at The Framer's Workshop in Berkeley. Each print is framed in solid poplar with a pale brown water based stain. The glazing is Optium Museum Acrylic and the mats and backings are archival. Optium Museum Acrylic is the highest quality glazing, it is anti-reflective, UV filtering, abrasion resistant and does not require special cleaning products.
