Maurice Sendak, born in 1928 in Brooklyn, and winner of the 1964 Caldecott Medal for Where The Wild Things Are, is one of the most beloved of children’s authors. Where the Wild Things Are, dared to present the darker side of children’s fears and fantasies, presenting them as a captivating story.
