| These Cigarbox Labels are produced from genuine antique lithograph stones produced between 1970 and 1925. The stones were discovered in dusty warehouses and factories around the world. These original aratworks represent the pinnicale of the advertising illustrator's art and can never be replicated.
Turn-of-the-century lithographers employed special artists to record a variety of themes. The process cost as much as $6,000 (nineteenth century) to create a single run. Each color in the lithographs represents the etching of a separate 300 pound stone, with many images requiring up to 20 individual stones for production. The images were printed on high quality paper and then embossed or gold leafed by master craftsmen.
